Jarvis Featured in Human Kindness Foundation's Spring 2025 Newsletter
Jarvis is prominently featured in “A Little Good News,” the Spring 2025 newsletter of the Human Kindness Foundation, out now. He shares stories about the importance of being present, listening without judgment, and describes life on his work crew at Sierra Conservation Center (where he is also learning how to use a computer for the first time and finishing up his first academic class in Sociology). “We all got some joy in our lives and we just have to tap into it,” he says. The Human Kindness Foundation gives people experiencing incarceration simple tools to deepen spiritual practices and promote wellbeing. In their 52 years of service, they have sent over a million newsletters, and distributed over 500,000 spiritual books to prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers throughout the United States—and many of their materials are now accessible on prison tablets. Dedicated volunteers respond to over 600 letters a month. Jarvis was the first incarcerated author to be represented in their catalog when they published a special limited version of “Finding Freedom” for free wide distribution over two decades ago. Cofounder Sita Lozoff recently turned 80. Jarvis continues to sit on their spiritual advisory board.
