Jarvis' Story Featured on Community Radio; Benefit Jazz Album "Got My Wings" Out Now

Jarvis' autobiography "That Bird Has My Wings" will be featured on the radio show, "Book Talk: Inspirations" with host Joy Willow on KAAD-LP 103.5 fm, a local community station in Sonora, CA. Streaming live on September 20 and September 21 at noon (PT), the discussion includes capital defense attorney Rick Targow and can be heard here.

In other news, a jazz album inspired by Jarvis’ book has also just been released by Adhyaropa Records. “Got My Wings” by jazz musician Dan Blake is dedicated to Jarvis, and grew from a ballet work choreographed by Tomiko Magario in partnership with Westchester Ballet Company, Bethany Arts Community and a range of other performing arts organizations. With support from Humanities New York and New York Foundation for the Arts, Got My Wings is also an educational project whose purpose is to help students and educators reflect on criminal justice through the creative and performing arts. The work has led to meaningful partnerships with a range of educators, advocates, and organizations working on the front lines in the struggle for justice such as ENUBuilds and Rehabilitation Through The Arts.

The record is available on vinyl or as a digital download here. Proceeds from this album will go to support Release Aging People From Prison, a New York nonprofit led by formerly incarcerated advocates.
